5 Basic ingredients to become somebody

Sugar! Spice! and Everything Nice!!

No, that's not it unfortunately. Well, yesterday i was talking to my uncle, i haven't meet him in a long time. As we share each other stories, i tried to make him share his life experience. He's not inspirationally succeeded, but i think we can learn from anyone's life stories.

We talked about anything, from Indonesian tone, Marriage burden, Investment flow, etc. Suddenly he asked me : "do you know 5 basic needs, 5 basic ingredient, to make a nobody become somebody". I shake my head and listen carefully. He said those 5 ingredients are :

1. Spirit! - Turns out spirit is the most important ingredients, because human can't do anything right without spirit. In every aspect that we do to reach our dream, we need to use our spirit, put our soul into it. If you don't have spirit. It's almost certain that you won't become somebody.
2. Vision - Now if you have that spirit, you need a vision. What do you want to become in the next 5 or 10 years? set long term goal. If you have vision but don't have vision, you'll be like driving a car without any destination, which is pointless. 3. Skill - Now if you have spirit and vision, you need skill to help you reach your vision. What skill is needed for you to reach your vision? Skill can easily be obtained, by learning and practicing.
4. Motivation - Wait? isn't having a vision motivate you already? vision is a long term goal that we aspire to. But in order to reach that some people (including me) require additional motivation to keep me on short term. Guide me to keep me walking to that vision. In analogy, the spirit is the car, destination is the vision, and motivation is the fuel to keep that car running. Break down your vision, to several milestone, make that your short term motivation or perhaps you can make other thing to become your motivation, like "wanted new car" "wanted pretty girlfriend". Anything to keep your car running.
5. Luck - Now, the last but not least is luck. In order to succeed sometimes luck is needed. Don't worry, even without luck you still can be succeeded-ish. But here's the thing, to me personally luck isn't always something that you waited for. I believe in creating our own luck, it's all about taking chances and opportunity ahead.

There you have it!! 5 Basic ingredient to become a somebody. For me personally, i still working on number 4. Because i do have the spirit, vision, skill (i think) but i keep on procrastinating (as i wrote this blog LOL), i use to think the reason if i've been lazy and procrastinating all along is because i don't have enough spirit on my vision. But, as i hear him, a light bulb appeared in my mind "ahhh, it's not that i don't have a good vision, it's all about the short term motivation"
